The Church Has Left the Building!

This Sunday we begin a new message series entitled, "Simple Church." The series is all about the simple process at Coastal for sharing and experiencing LIFE - Love it, Learn it, Live it, and Give it. To close out the series we are going to do something we've never done before.

On Sunday, November 18th, we're not going to have our "normal" church service. We'll gather together for communion at 9:30 and then at 10AM we're going to leave the building and head off to two community projects and return at noon to pick up our kids (childcare will be provided at the church for Nursery and Pre-school age children). The two community projects will be at Oakland Elementary School (across the street) and Crisis Ministry Homeless Shelter (downtown). We are in the process of determining those specific jobs at each location (something like cleaning, painting, landscaping, beautification, etc.), but everything will be well planned out and prepared. In the coming weeks, we'll give you the opportunity to sign up for one of those two projects. We'd like to have our church pretty evenly divided between the two projects. For those going to the Shelter, we will even provide 15 passenger vans for transportation. All you will have to do is to show up and serve!

We'll have someone stay at the church to explain to our guests who show up at 10:30AM where everyone went and what we're doing. Who knows - they might opt to walk across the street and join us! But what a great opportunity for the church to demonstrate Jesus in action. What a great opportunity for the church to "simply" be the church in our community. And, what a great opportunity to invite someone that you've been praying for and trying to "come to church." We say all the time, "We don't go to church, we are the church." Well, let's be the church!
