No Worries!

Janet and I went to Outback Steakhouse this week
and as we sat in our booth Janet pointed out the
coaster - "No Worries" was the message plastered on
the front. Friday morning I got a phone call from
Cindy Tighe. Cindy has been at our church from our
1st Sunday - she is like a sister to me. She called
to tell me that her mom had taken a turn for the
worse and they told them to call the family. The
good news is she actually seemed to rally late
yesterday and early this morning. But it's still
touch and go.
Watching loved ones gather around a bed in the ICU of a hospital kind of gives you a different perspective on worry. But truthfully, I can picture Cindy's mom, Dodie, telling me and all her family and friends, "No Worries!" You see, Dodie is a woman of faith. Every time I went to see her over the last couple of years, I went away a stronger man and a better person for having been in her presence. She always had a positive outlook. Not once did I hear her complain or whine. She ministered to me far more than I ever ministered to her. And if you know anything about Dodie, you also know about her love of plants and flowers - which reminds me of another verse from Matthew on worry.
Matthew 6:28-34, "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." No Worries Mate!
