Coastal ROCKS on Sundays!

rocks
I just love Sundays at Coastal! There is no television program (sorry Survivor, 24, LOST, and The Amazing Race), sporting event (yes, sorry Clemson, NFL, and NASCAR), or hobby (sorry golf, fishing, and just sleeping in) that gets my attention, focus, enthusiasm like Sunday mornings at Coastal! I just look forward to and get jacked up about what God is doing here!
And this past Sunday was no exception! Now for those of you who don't know, our Praise & Worship Team is here and ready for practice every Sunday around 8:15AM. And without fail, the Sundays when there are some early morning distractions, difficulties going over songs we've done hundreds of times, or just some sound or technical frustrations, those are the Sundays when something powerful happens. By the way, in Ephesians 2 where it says, "Satan, the mighty prince of the power of the air," I take that to mean that the Devil lives in all sound equipment and takes pleasure in driving Pastors and Worship Teams crazy! But he was going to have no victory at Coastal on Sunday. In fact, we threw a rock at him and a bunch of other Giants and then took the Sword of the Spirit and whacked off his head (I've just been dying to say that)!

There was a great crowd here on Sunday, lots of visitors and return visitors (didn't get the count, both of my counters were out of town). But more than that, lives were changed and Giants came tumbling down! We had a great Newcomers Lunch after church. Lee Kurtz shared how she started coming to Coastal because of her son's involvement in our Student Ministry and his relationship with Jeremiah, but that she kept coming because she takes away something every week - LIFE change. It was real powerful. Somebody (I don't know who) dropped off some supplies for a classroom over at Oakland. I took the stuff over today - the class cheered! I love playing Santa. On the way home from church, Prisca Denton called to say she was walking into Kindred to see her mom and take her a rock. You see her mom is a Giant Killer from way back, but just needed a little reminder. Went back to church that evening to take my kids to WAVES to find Jeremiah meeting early with his Team - they ROCK! Kids came pouring in for WAVES. Mary our Treasurer was there training Kelly Macklin to help her with some church bookkeeping and Ricky Spell was organizing a Scavenger Hunt for the Students. Like I said, Sundays ROCK at Coastal! Speaking of rocks, bring them back to church this Friday Night, 7PM for "Facing the Giants" Movie Night. It's going to be a powerful evening. Be here and bring a friend! And then bring them Sunday when we start knocking down a few other giants! We might even take a sword and cut off his head!
