Sunday Reflections

What a busy weekend it's been! Saturday I met with Cindy Tighe to go over her mom's funeral and get some pictures to scan and put together for a presentation at her funeral. It's going to be quite a service - crying and laughing and worship. Then Jeremiah and I went over to the Oakland Elementary School Carnival to volunteer a couple of hours. Golf & Popcorn were our booths. It was actually a good opportunity to invite people to Coastal. Then I continued to work on the presentation and go over my message for Sunday.
Sunday was a great day! Our attendance was back up a bit after being flat for a couple of weeks. The band is getting jacked up about our new series we're doing after Easter. It's called "Old School - Today's Questions, Yesterday's Stories." We're going to do an overview of the 1st 5 Books of the O.T. (more about that later). But the reason the band is jacked is that they're goin' to kick it old school with the music. We're also working on a set design for the stage. It's going to be a lot of fun.

Sunday's message went over big. We talked about facing the Giant of Financial Stress and getting out of debt. We gave away dollar bills as an illustration and then we had one of the largest offerings ever. I told Janet, "Let's give away $1 bills every week!" After church it was our Promiseland Ministry Meeting (thanks Geri, Susan, Mary, and Kelly for watching the kids during the meeting). We have a great group of volunteers. I'm excited about what's going to be happening in Promiseland. As our church grows, our Children's Ministry must continue to grow.

It was great to see so many people love on Cindy, Tammy, and Lee on Sunday! It was extra special to see Lee again. Sunday afternoon was the visitation for Dodie. A huge crowd of people showed up. Do you ever wonder who will show up at your funeral? I know that's kind of morbid, but I think about it sometimes. Last night was a very, very late night! Just getting ready for today, both my message and the presentation. Keep me in your prayers.

Well, that's about it. I need to go pray through my message. Hey - on a side note, got a lot of comments about our "Freak of the Week." Be on the look out for this weeks installment. Easter is less than two weeks away! Who are you bringing? Easter Sunday - He came. He died. He conquered!
