Sunday Reflections
11/04/07 10:24 PM
Wow - today was a long day! Actually, it was a long
weekend, but a good one. Friday I was scrambling
around getting ready for our Paintball event. We
had a blast! The weather was great. Everyone had
fun! And we got to hang out with several new
people. Ashley Miller took a bunch of pictures.
I'll try to post them later. After paintballing I
went over to the church to finish up for Sunday and
stayed way too late.
Today was interesting. First of all, our attendance tanked. I mean it was bad. I think we had our lowest attendance of the Fall. And yet everyone also got an extra hour of sleep. I don't know what was up. I do know where a lot of people were, but it was just one of those days. Today's message was - "Live it!" It was all about Small Groups. I shared vision and said some pretty hard things - about who we are and who we are not. Cyndi did a great job with the lanyards, flyer, and insert. We really pushed the importance that Small Groups plays in our vision. We must grow smaller and larger at the same time!
Other highlights from today - the drama. They all did a great job. Very funny! Junior went out this week and bought new cymbals for his drums. He's really been working hard on making the transition to live drums a smooth one. I appreciate his effort. Mark did a great job with the Communion Meditation. Prisca did a great job leading the closing song.
After church Janet and I went to a private Memorial Service for Carol Harding's mom. It was very touching. We then ran home, changed clothes, Janet went with the Coastal Kidz to see the Bee Movie and I took our kids to WAVES. Tonight was their first night of splitting Middle School and High School Students. It really went well. Most people don't realize how much work Sunday night is, but Jeremiah and all his volunteers have really done a great job. If you know any Students - get them here on Sunday nights!
Well that's about it - it's late and I'm tired. My clock says 10:20, but my body says 11:20. There's a lot happening in the weeks ahead and I'll be posting about it and sending out information - Operation Christmas Child, The Church Has Left the Building, Coastal Kidz going to a full service, and several other things. And - there will be a cool change to our building this week. You'll see it on Sunday! I love you Coastal! We are on the ride of a lifetime!
