Freak(s) of the Week!

As you can see from the title, this week's, "Freak of the Week" goes to more than one person. Twila Sabin & Teresa Spell are my "Freaks" this week. Just watching them on Sunday, I knew I had to recognize them. They are two of the most dedicated Promiseland servants that we have at Coastal! Just step in to the D.O.G.S. Class and you know that it is a labor of love. And speaking of the classroom itself - it's the coolest room at Coastal! They took it upon themselves to remodel (thanks Ricky), decorate, and supply their own classroom. They teach together every week - they never get a break. And then on top of that, they decided to add a Sunday night meeting once a month for their kids! From start to finish they take care of everything themselves - lesson, food, prizes, games, and activities.
But that's not all, like the other "Freaks" I'd have a hard time recounting all that they do here at Coastal. Twila leads the multi-media team in the sound room on Sunday morning. Every year she helps with the Christmas Program (those are her cool dance moves) and serves at VBS. Teresa helps lead Promiseland with Janet. She serves on the Finance Team. She leads Operation Christmas Child and also serves at VBS and the Christmas Program.

But what truly makes them "Freaks" is not the obvious things I've just mentioned. In fact, as I write this I keep thinking of more and more that they do and have done. Like the picture here with their class, they are always in the background at Coastal. They are the first ones to stay and help and the last ones to leave any event. They volunteer to drive, chaperone, clean, and do whatever it takes to get the job done with excellence. They love the Lord, they love Coastal, and it shows. They are great examples of servant leaders.

A couple of interesting "factoids" about both of them: I walked Teresa down the aisle and gave her away to Ricky at their wedding (Ricky - never say I haven't given you anything. Actually, now that I think about it, no matter what you help me with, fix, or repair - you owe me BIG TIME! Not that I'm keeping score.). And, on a beautiful Christmas Eve day, three years ago (I think), I married Ryan and Twila (okay, you owe me too Ryan - for obvious reasons)! It's an honor to serve with and lead people like Teresa & Twila.
