Sunday Reflections
Wes and his wife Brianna will be moving to Charleston at the beginning of July. They are expecting their first child - a girl, Charlotte - the end of this month. Wes is 24 - 25 on July 7. He and his wife Brianna (25) live in Connecticut. He is a graduate of Gordon College. She is a graduate of Liberty University. He has been the Youth Pastor of Stanwich Church in Greenwich, CT for the past 3 years and a member of the Worship Band, Evensong Rising. He is a gifted guitarist, singer, worship leader, and Youth Pastor.
As far as I'm
concerned, July can not get here fast enough. We
will be a stronger and healthier church with Wes on
our team. Over the next two months I'll be telling
you more about him and how you can welcome him and
Bri to our church and Charleston.
On so many levels Sunday was a significant and
powerful day. Other than being out of town, maybe a
Pastor Appreciation Day, and having a baby, it was
the first Sunday in the history of our church, 18
years, that my wife was not on stage for worship
(let that sink in for a moment). During the first
service, she was serving in Coastal Kidz with one
of our Teams. During the second service, she sat
with me. It was awesome!
Mike, George, Tristan, and Jr. did an awesome job
on Sunday! Jeff & Prisca were out of town and
David was able to worship without playing on stage.
We now have enough musicians to start regularly
giving them a Sunday off from playing. It will take
some time and organization, but the main reason for
that change is not the number of people, but the
attitude of their hearts! We have an awesome Praise
& Worship Team! They love the Lord first and
foremost. It is all about Him, not them! And they
are always willing to do whatever it takes to share
and experience the LIFE of Christ. It is never
about their position, their preference, but it is
always about our purpose.
Wes can flat out play the guitar and sing. Wow! He
has an awesome voice! But the thing I love most
about him is his humility and his teachability. He
is so excited about being a part of Coastal! He did
a great job Sunday of just hanging out and
connecting with our people and our students. He has
a real maturity about him. He is definitely wise
beyond his years. And just like your Senior Pastor,
his wife is definitely his better half. I can't
wait for you to meet her (and Charlotte). His one
negative - he's a Georgia Bulldog fan!
Matt & Kathy did a great job Sunday creatively
promoting VBS (I'm still laughing about the
"Brokeback Mountain" comment - you had to be
there!). Lots of people made commitments to
volunteer in some capacity for VBS. We are praying,
preparing and planning for 100 kids this year!
Took some students to the Hawk Nelson concert
Sunday afternoon. Wes hung out with the students
and Janet and I had fun hanging out with George.
Sunday was a LONG day. I left the house at 7AM and
did not return until 9PM. But like I said, it was a
significant day. It's hard to put in words, but
years from now I really believe that I'm going to
look back on this weekend and remember it as an
important day in the history of our church. Another
page has turned and a chapter closed. The BEST is
yet to come!
