Saturday Night Thoughts

- Okay, okay, you've been waiting on me to address this - Clemson is probably not going to win the National Championship this year. Seriously, we stink right now. Eddie Evans called me from the game tonight. Actually, he had already left the game disgusted right before half time. I'm expecting some "funny" email from my good friend and die hard Hokie fan, Buck and his son Robert. And on top of all that, South Carolina will be in the top ten! At least Georgia lost.

- We had a lot of fun at our Small Group Kick-Off tonight! Cnydi did a great job! We are going to be raising the value and visibility of our Small Groups this year. I was so proud of my Small Group - everyone was there! You guys rock!

- Tomorrow is Porn Sunday at Coastal. It's already generated a lot of interesting conversations. I'm really curious what our guests will think.

- I'm looking forward to hearing Jeremiah speak next week.

- This is a weird couple of weeks for me - I'm not speaking tomorrow or next week. Tomorrow we're showing the video simulcast of Pastor Craig Gross of XXXchurch.com. Usually on Saturday nights I'm in the "zone," going over and praying through my message. This might sound crazy (Pastors, however, understand), but from Saturday night until Sunday morning before I speak, I feel like an athlete getting ready for the big game or match. Sometimes I just want to put on my iPod and rock out until right before the message. Maybe that's why I like it hard and loud in worship.

- Speaking of hard and loud, tomorrow is the second week for the "live" drums. We stuck Junior in the corner and put him in a cage (insert joke here).

- I'm thankful for Clemson's bye week next week. But now I'm honestly concerned about the Central Michigan Chippewas on the 20th. What's a Chippewas? I hope we don't find out!

- Our next message series begins October 21st. It's called, "Simple Church." It's about the process of making disciples at Coastal. It's about focusing on what really matters and stripping away all that doesn't. We've got some great things planned for this series - one thing that we've never done before. More about that later. See you in the morning!
